Died December 5, 1953 in KoreaPrivate Cooper was a member of Company L, 3rd Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. On December 5, 1953, he was with a group of soldiers shoveling sand when one of them hit a grenade which exploded causing Private Cooper a fatal chest wound. Private Cooper was awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
